PGMTB Club Trail Care event
About this event
PGMTB Club Trail Care event
.
Details to be finalised (working with Parks Victoria).
.
Volunteers are asked to become Parks Connect Volunteers - registration here: https://www.parkconnect.vic.gov.au/
.
The more volunteers registered & attending, the greater the PV resource can be pushed our way.
.
β’ Gain practical knowledge: learn about sustainable land management, biodiversity, mtb trail maintenance and outdoor leadership.
.
β’ Meet MTB people: work alongside like-minded MTB volunteers who share a passion for MTBing in the outdoors.
.
β’ Get active: support physical health and mental wellbeing by spending time moving outdoors in nature.
.
Typically we rake the trail clear of debris, ensuring water sheets across the trail by creating drainage points as well as cutting back vegetation that impedes users on the trail or blocks 'sight-lines' of corners...
.
There will be a quick safety briefing & overview on what, where, how & when to rake and cut.
.
If enough volunteers, weβll split into two teams
.
Tools to bring (if you have them):
- plastic (not metal!) rake - although the Club has a few now!
- secateurs or small pruning saw
- no digging tools!
- Club will provide blower for clearing trails & pole pruner for any cutting requirements
.
Personal gear:
- hand protection: gardening-type gloves
- eye protection: sunglasses or safety googles
- foot protection: closed shoes or boots
- leg protection: long pants if using a line trimmer or brush cutter
- radiation protection: hat & sunscreen (well, at least the hatβ¦)
- dehydration protection: backpack bladder is a good way to carry water or bottle/s
- rain protection: raincoat
.
See you there!
